Road Construction Updates

ALERT TO DRIVERS: SEVEN MILE ROAD CONSTRUCTION FROM (I-275 TO NEWBURGH ROAD) IS UNDERWAY

Drivers can expect reduced lanes and slow travel at the intersection at Seven Mile and Newburgh Roads to allow for road improvements by Wayne County. The construction project also includes work along Seven Mile Road, west of Newburgh Road.

Motorists are encouraged to use Six Mile Road or Eight Mile Road to access I-275 during the construction project to avoid delays. Construction is scheduled to be completed by the end of October.

The Wayne County Department of Public Service is administering the $589,000 for the half-mile of hot mix asphalt cold milling and resurfacing, concrete repairs, sidewalk ramps, signing and pavement markings. Pro-Line Asphalt Paving Corporation is the contractor.

ROAD RESURFACING PROJECT ON SEVEN MILE AND INKSTER ROADS


Drivers can expect reduced lanes and slow travel at the intersection of Seven Mile Road and Inkster Roads now through mid-October as the road is resurfaced and repaired.

During construction, one lane of traffic in each direction will be maintained at all times. Please use caution when driving through work zones. Reduced speeds and load restrictions may be postedFlag operators will direct traffic at times.

The Wayne County Department of Public Service is administering the $466,000 resurfacing project at the intersection, with sidewalk ramps on the west side of Inkster Road and new pavement markings. Florence Cement Company is the contractor.

Alert to drivers: Merriman resurfacing starts July 6


Drivers can expect reduced lanes and slow travel on Merriman Road from Plymouth to Schoolcraft starting Monday, July 6, as the road is resurfaced and repaired.

Initial work will begin on the outside lanes in each direction, with motorists allowed to drive in lanes adjacent to the center-turn lane. Once the outside lanes are resurfaced, traffic will be allowed on the outside lanes.

Construction is scheduled to be completed in late October.

The Wayne County Department of Public Service is administering the $1.73 million road improvement, which will include just under one mile of hot mix asphalt, cold milling and resurfacing, concrete pavement repair, sidewalk ramps and pavement markings. Cadillac Asphalt, LLC, is the contractor.

GREAT LAKES WATER AUTHORITY (GLWA) 48-inch WATER MAIN INSTALLATION

(Westbound Schoolcraft Road from Middlebelt to Inkster)

Project update 

As a result of the construction, the east crossover bridge at Middle Belt Road is closed until further notice. Motorists will need to use the next cross over bridge to the east as shown on map.

Construction is anticipated to start in early June and last around 11 months for the portion in Livonia.
