Commission on Aging

The Livonia Commission on Aging is comprised of 7 members, all residents of Livonia, who are appointed by the Mayor to serve three (3) year terms.  Their intent as an advisory board is to provide input and suggestions on programs that would best enrich the lives of the senior citizens in our community!

The Commission sponsors the Thanksgiving Dinner and Christmas Holiday Party at the Senior Center, as well as organizes trips for our senior residents to the Detroit Zoo and State Fair.  They are responsible for the Senior Citizen’s Annual Picnic and create a quarterly publication, The Heritage Newsletter, that is distributed to seniors throughout Livonia.  They are always interested in hearing suggestions from the community on new programs and services that Senior residents may like to enjoy!

Open meetings are held on a quarterly basis (every 3 months) on the 2nd Tuesday of the month at 5:30 p.m. in the lobby at the Civic Center Park Senior Center.  Stop in with comments, praise, and ideas – or just to hear for yourself how we’re enhancing the lives of our senior population!
