Pop Up Play: Leaf Hunt

Join us 1-3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 30, at the Tree Fort in the Kirksey Recreation Center with your child!

Children will hunt for leaves, and cool prizes will be waiting for them at the end! This event is a great way for children to explore and play.

No registration is required for our Pop Up Play activities, and they are free to members of The Rec and day pass holders. Find our Facebook event here today.

Merry & Bright Holiday Parade and Tree Lighting

The Merry & Bright Holiday Parade and Tree Lighting is coming up 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 8. If you are interested in having your community group walk in the parade, contact Billy Keppen at wkeppen@livonia.gov.

We expect more than 50 local groups to participate as the public views floats, collects candy and waves to some special guests from the North Pole. The parade travels from Frost Middle School to City Hall, where Santa will help light the civic campus before visiting with families at the Bennett Civic Center Library. Enjoy snacks, crafts and visits with both Santa and Buddy the Elf at the library 5-7 p.m. Mark your calendar today! Visit our event on Facebook and invite others!

Livonia Thanksgiving Hours

City of Livonia offices, 16th District Court, Livonia Public Library, Greenmead Historical Park and the Civic Park Senior Center will be closed on Thursday, Nov. 28, in observance of Thanksgiving. The Kirksey Recreation Center will be open from  7 a.m. to 2 p.m on Thanksgiving day, Nov. 28, and from 5 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Nov. 29!

There is NO collection services on Thanksgiving Day. Trash will be delayed one day for the rest of the holiday week. Please be sure to put your trash out on the DAY AFTER your regularly scheduled day.

New exterior wall for Livonia Senior Wellness Center is up

The exterior walls for the new Livonia Senior Wellness Center continue to rise along the east side of the Kirksey Recreation Center as the footings also take place for the new West Gym.

The Main Gyms will close in 2025 once the new West Gym is complete. The full project is expected to be completed in December 2025. You can visit LivoniaBuilt.org to see the specific timeline for each phase. For more details, check out our Frequently Asked Questions.
