Rec Center Readers Book Club: 'The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society'

On Wednesday, Oct. 30, at 7 p.m., the Rec Readers Book Club will meet again at the Jack Kirksey Recreation Center.

This month, readers are going to be discussing The New York Times Best Seller "The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society" by Mary Ann Shaffer and Annie Barrows. This event is free to members, $3 per resident, and $5 per non-resident. To register, visit our online portal!

Healthy Livonia 2024 Turkey Trot

A race for a good cause is approaching! This 5k fun run/walk will be 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 2, and runners will take off from Bicentennial Park.

This fun run is a non-certified course, and no bibs, chips, or awards will be given out.

Registration is $20. You can also register onsite before the race, but you must bring exact change or a check.

If you do secure a shirt, you can pick it up 1-8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 1, from The Rec or at 8:30 at Bicentennial Park on the day of the race!

You can enter the Turkey Trot raffle to win prizes generously donated by local businesses and organizations. All proceeds from this event and raffle will go to the Livonia Goodfellows organization.

Harvest Tea

Come join us at Greenmead Historical Park 3-5 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 2, as we celebrate the flavors of fall and the end of the harvest season at our first Harvest Tea! Our menu will include fall-inspired sandwiches, scones, dessert, and bottomless tea! Advance registration is required for $35/resident, $40/non-resident.

A portion of Hubbard Road, south of Five Mile Road, is closed, and it is currently estimated to reopen Saturday, Nov. 2 to complete some Kirksey Recreation Center construction items. The south lot is still accessible from alternative routes when approaching from the south.

The Main Gyms will close in July 2025 once the new West Gym is complete. The full project is expected to be completed in December 2025. You can visit LivoniaBuilt.org to see the specific timeline for each phase. For more details, check out our Frequently Asked Questions.
