Highland Tea

Have a cup of tea with us! Spend a relaxing fall afternoon with friends at Highland Tea on Saturday, Oct. 5, 3-5 p.m. The sound of bagpipes will beckon you to the Greenmead Historical Park Alexander Blue House. Traditional Scottish music and dance will entertain you as you enjoy our fare and bottomless tea menu.

2024 Healthy Livonia Turkey Trot

The Healthy Livonia Turkey Trot 2024 is approaching! This 5k fun run/walk will be 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 2, and runners will take off from Bicentennial Park.

This fun run is a non-certified course, and no bibs, chips, or awards will be given out.

Registration is $20. If you want to guarantee that you receive a t-shirt, you must register before Oct. 14! If you do secure a shirt, you can pick it up Friday, Nov. 1, from The Rec or at 8:30 at Bicentennial Park on the day of the race! You can also register onsite before the race, but you must bring exact change or a check.

You can also enter the Turkey Trot raffle to win prizes generously donated by local businesses and organizations. All proceeds from this event and raffle will go to the Livonia Goodfellows organization.

The Alexander Blue House at Greenmead Historical Park

Greenmead Village Tours

Come visit the past on Sunday, Sept. 15, and take a tour of the Greenmead Historic Village buildings. Self-paced tours are from 1-4 p.m. Begin at Delia's Treasures Gift Shop (located by the stop sign) for your admission pass. Admission is by donation this year. Docents will be in each building to share information and answer questions. For more information about events and rental opportunities, please call (248) 477-7375.

Visitors will also have an opportunity to meet the Greenmead Historical Park beekeepers, as they will have observation hives on display and be selling honey outside of Delia's treasures.

Senior TreeRunner Adventure Park

The adventure continues! The Civic Park Senior Center is continuing its Senior Adventure Series with a new entry.

On Thursday, Nov. 7, we'll leave at 9:45 a.m. to go ziplining and exploring at TreeRunner West Bloomfield Adventure Park! They have more than 250 exciting obstacles, 47 zip lines, and 15 different trails. After our thrill-seeking adventure, we will head to Buddy’s for a relaxing lunch. You can register for $99 today as a Livonia resident or for $104 if you're a non-resident.

Construction Machinery at The Rec

Construction began July 16, with exterior site work.The Rec closed the East FitHub (Strength Hub) Aug. 26, and internal construction began Sept. 3. The Main Gyms will close in July 2025 once the new West Gym is complete. The full project is expected to be completed in December 2025.
