Registration for Fall I Programs and Classes

Aug. 5 is the first day for Kirksey Recreation Center members to register for our Fall I classes. Check out the most recent issue of our Connections magazine for all the latest events and classes coming up this fall. You will be able to register for your classes and programs by visiting our online catalog or by going to the Kirksey Recreation Center.

Members of The Rec can register starting Monday, Aug. 5. Non-member Livonia residents can register Tuesday, Aug. 6, and non-residents can register Thursday, Aug. 8.

Kids Art From the Heart

Have fun with crafts and activities galore from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 10, at Kids Art from the Heart! This free event will be held at the Kirksey Recreation Center and is hosted by the Livonia Arts Commission. Although all are welcome, Kids Art from the Heart is geared towards children ages 2-12. There will be multiple crafts, a bounce house, live entertainment, and more! Bring the family and have a great time. No preregistration is required, but you can visit our Facebook event to mark yourself as going!

S'mores and Stories: Bountiful Bats

Get a feel for the camping life with our monthly S'mores and Stories program at Newburg School Field 7-8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 23! We will enjoy roasting s'mores, telling stories, and participating in a variety of activities around the campfire. This month's theme is Bountiful Bats. This program is best suited for children ages 5-12, and all children must be accompanied by an adult (parents do not need to register). Advance registration is required. Registration costs $5/child resident through our online portal.

Greenmead New Volunteer Orientation

Make your mark on the history of Livonia by becoming a Greenmead volunteer! Join us at the Alexander Blue House 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 6, to learn about our many volunteer opportunities, including guiding tours, assisting with special events, gardening, and more. Greenmead Historical Park offers a variety of ways to share your time and talents! To ensure materials are prepared for all attendees, please register in advance online or by calling the Greenmead office at (248) 477-7375.

Construction on the Livonia Senior Wellness Center began two weeks ago with exterior site work, relocating the East FitHub (Strength Hub) to the MAC Gym in September 2024 and closing the Main Gyms in July 2025 once the new West Gym is complete. The full project is expected to be completed in December 2025.
