Livonia Shakespeare in the Park Presents 'A Midsummer Night's Dream'

Join Livonia Shakespeare in the Park as they present A Midsummer Night's Dream on July 19-20, 26-27 at 6:30 p.m., and July 21 and 28 at 2 p.m. This production is free to attend, and it will take place at Stymelski Veterans Park. All guests should bring a blanket or lawn chair to sit and enjoy the show. To find more information about this event, including updates, cast lists, and potential weather updates, follow the official Facebook page, Instagram page, or Livonia Community Theatre website. No prior registration is required, but you can respond to and share the Facebook Event.

The BIG Picnic

Bring the family over to Greenmead Historical Park noon-3 p.m. Saturday, July 27, for The BIG Picnic. We'll have live music, live animals, tours, story times, lawn games, yoga sessions, and face painting available, all for free! Just bring your own picnic food and a blanket to enjoy in between events! There is no pre-registration required, but you can use our Facebook event to let us and your friends know you'll be there!

Amaizeing Dawgs will have food for purchase during the event, and the Historical Commission will be selling slices of pie in the Friends Meeting House. This program is sponsored by Christian Financial Credit Union and Card My Yard.

Rec Readers Book Club

On Wednesday, June 24, at 7 p.m., the Rec Readers Book Club will meet once again at the Jack Kirksey Recreation Center. This month, readers are going to be discussing the bestselling "The Ride of Her Life: The True Story of a Woman, Her Horse, and Their Last-Chance Journey Across America" by Elizabeth Letts. 

This book chronicles the true story of a 1954 woman's trip to see the Pacific Ocean before the end of her life. This event is free to members, $3 per resident, and $5 per non-resident. Register soon through our online portal!

Construction on the Livonia Senior Wellness Center is scheduled to begin this week with exterior site work, relocating the East FitHub (Strength Hub) to the MAC Gym in September 2024 and closing the Main Gyms in July 2025 once the new West Gym is complete. The full project is expected to be completed in December 2025.
