Livonia AIR Spring Dance Provides Fun for Special Needs Families

We’re all mad here! Join us for a Wonderland-themed night of dancing and fun 5:30-8 p.m. Saturday, April 29, at the Civic Park Senior Center, where we will have our inaugural spring dance! Dress up and come out for a night of light refreshments, games, music and more!

Livonia AIR is our new branch of Adaptive Inclusive Recreation programs. Designed for individuals with special needs ages 15 and older, but all abilities are welcome.

Cost is $25 per resident and $35 per non-resident. All attending must register.

Share Your Skills With Your Neighbors by Volunteering

Do you enjoy gardening, coordinating and participating in special events and programs, acting as a tour guide or docent, or helping preserve historic cemeteries? We’re looking for new volunteers to assist with all of these and more at Greenmead Historical Park. We’re hosting a volunteer orientation 6:30-8 p.m. Tuesday, April 25, at Greenmead’s Alexander Blue House.

New Women's Self-Protection and Defense Workshop to Teach Safety

Join us from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, May 6, for a Women's Self-Protection and Defense Workshop designed to change your mindset and physical skills in the event where your personal safety may be at risk. Participants will learn and discuss pre-incident indicators that are present before a potential attack and how they can be addressed. Using their own personal strengths, participants will develop their own personal safety plan.

Learning will be presented in both discussion and active physical technique training. Women ages 14 and older can register here.
