Full Fall of History, Silent Cinema Being Presented at Greenmead
Mark your calendars for a great fall history lecture series at Greenmead Historical Park. Learn about Diego Rivera's local murals that have been declared a National Historic Landmark 2 p.m. Sept. 19, get a heady history on Michigan beer 7 p.m. Oct. 3 and learn how Michigan's auto industry in World War I became a dress rehearsal for the arsenal of Democracy 2 p.m. Nov. 15.
Greenmead will also be hosting a Silent Cinema of the Mitten State series as we look at silent film and early American cartooning before viewing "Eleven PM" 7 p.m. Oct. 6, actresses and female screenwriters who broke onto the scene in the 1910s and '20s before viewing "Ella Cinders" 7 p.m. Nov. 3, and a Michigan-native animator of Walt Disney and two holiday shorts from a Port Huron film innovator 12:30 p.m. Dec. 10.
