Seven Kirksey Recreation Center Swimmers Circle Mackinac Island for Charity

The Kirksey Recreation Center had a great showing at the Mackinac Island Swim Aug. 22, where seven friends from the rec center banded together and swam nearly seven miles around the island.

The charity event was held on the island to raise money for the Mackinac Island women's club charities. The seven morning master swimmers from the Livonia area were among 232 people to swim around the island and combine to raise $10,500.

Fall Wellness Series Kicking off Next Week

Connect with our certified wellcoach, Nadene, for a pair of six-week seminars this fall, as well as a pair of single-day seminars.

The six-week Living Well with Chronic Conditions offer options starting 9-10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 14, or 6:30-8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 16. Her single-day Living Mindfully seminars will run 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 7, and 7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 20.

Recreation Center Regular Hours Begin Sept. 7

As the summer winds down, so do our summer facility hours at the Kirksey Recreation Center. Starting Tuesday, Sept. 7, the following regular hours will be in place:

5 a.m. to 10 p.m. Mondays-Fridays
6 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturdays
7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sundays

The facility will also have limited hours from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sept. 6 for Labor Day, while the Greenmead Historical Park and Civic Park Senior Center offices will be closed that day.
