[ARCHIVED] Livonia Lead Action Level Exceedance

2024-10-9 Press Release Livonia Lead Action Level Exceedance Page 1

The City of Livonia conducts annual testing of tap water in homes for lead and copper. During our regular testing, we collected samples from 30 of the 67 homes known to have lead service lines. Four of the homes were found to exceed the acceptable level of lead. The lead 90th percentile for the homes sampled was 17 parts per billion (ppb), which exceeds the Action Level of 15 ppb.  The Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (EGLE) evaluates compliance with the Action Level based on the 90th percentile of lead and copper results collected in each round of sampling.

The City of Livonia is committed to helping residents maintain quality drinking water. If you are a Livonia residential water customer, please visit CheckYourPipesLivonia.org. There you can find instructions on how to determine the material of your water service line. You can also make an appointment to have a City representative come to your home for an assessment. You can also contact the Department of Public Works by calling (734) 466-2019.
