Suburban Mobility Authority for Regional Transportation (SMART)

SMART offers several different types of bus transportation service in southeast Michigan, including Fixed Route Service, Connector Service, ADA Service, and Community Transit. The SMART bus service stop for the City of Livonia is located near Beaumont Hospital in Farmington Hills.

Detroit Department of Transportation (DDOT)


D-DOT offers Fixed Route bus transportation service from the City of Detroit to a stop in the City of Livonia, located behind Costco on Middlebelt Road.

Livonia Community Transit on a Bus


To Work Shuttle Service Livonia Community Transit is a Fixed Route service that offers 'To Work' shuttle service for those SMART and D-DOT passengers who have destinations in Livonia. In addition, the 'To Work' service can pick up and drop off riders at stops along the fixed route.


'To Work' service operates Monday through Friday, except major holidays. Pick up times in the morning are at 6, 7 and 8 a.m. Return times in the afternoon are at 4, 5, and 6 p.m. The Livonia Transit shuttle location is near Beaumont Hospital on westbound Grand River Avenue for SMART riders and behind the Costco on Middle Belt Road for D-DOT riders.


Reservations are not required to use this service. Cost per ride is $2 each way. Drivers do not make change and cannot accept SMART transfers. View a list of the 'To Work' destinations (PDF). Call us at (734) 466-2700 for more information.

Disabled American Veterans (DAV)


DAV operates a fleet of vehicles around the country to provide free transportation to VA medical facilities for injured and ill veterans. Volunteers drive the vans, and the rides coordinated by almost 200 Hospital Service Coordinators around the country. City of Livonia Seal


City of Livonia Transit Hubs Livonia Community Transit is a community service, through the City of Livonia, that provides door to door transportation for Livonia seniors 60 years old or older and the disabled. Service is provided within the City limits for $2 per ride.


Passengers can utilize this service for medical appointments, shopping, recreation, employment, etc. Disabled riders must pre-qualify. Reservations are required and service is based on a first-come, first-served. Call (734) 466-2700 or toll-free at (866) 466-2022 for more information. 


Any veteran who is a Livonia resident can qualify to connect to the Veterans' Affairs Ann Arbor shuttle at Meijer in Westland through Livonia Community Transit. Any veteran who is a patient of the Ann Arbor VA and has a scheduled appointment the day of their transportation can ride the shuttle. At the time of transportation, you must present photo identification such as a valid state driver's license or VA identification card to be transported. You will need a reservation and a scheduled appointment for services at the VA Medical Center in order to utilize this transportation service. Service is free-of-charge.

Availability to ride Livonia Transit to the VA Shuttle is based on a first-come, first-serve basis and should be coordinated with Livonia Transit prior to scheduling with the VA. Cost is $2 each way. In order to qualify, you must either:

  • Demonstrate financial need. 
  • Complete Livonia Community Transit's ADA Application (PDF).
