THE LIVONIA YOUTH ASSISTANCE PROGRAM
The City of Livonia initiated and has provided the Livonia Youth Assistance Program since January, 1982. With the encouragement and support of the Livonia Police Department and Wayne County Juvenile Court, the program was designed to address the ongoing and increasing problem of juvenile delinquency in Livonia.

 Youth Assistance Logo
Youth Assistance is an alternative to the juvenile court system and is a method of preventing early entrenchment in the legal system for youth who are identified as at-risk or delinquent. This program seeks to aid troubled youth in becoming better adjusted, more socially conscious and more productive members of society, as well as provides a means for an offender to make reparations for the crimes they have committed. This intervention is operated at the local level, the City of Livonia, administered by the Department of Community Resources.. Services are free and confidential.

PARENTAL EVALUATION RESOURCE KIT
The Livonia Police Department is proud to announce the Parental Evaluation Resource Kit (P.E.R.K.).  The mission of this program is to assist Livonia parents who don't know where to turn when their children begin to show signs of a problem.  P.E.R.K. offers a large amount of information and a convenient drug and alcohol test that produces immediate results in the privacy and safety of the home.  In the event of a positive result, P.E.R.K. directs parents to appropriate community resources without law enforcement intervention.  For more information, click here.

Gandalf showing off his Awards.

The team of P.O. Ostrowski and Gandalf (German shepherd) took first place for combined scores in narcotics detection and tracking at the U.S. Police Canine Association Region 19 event in Washtenaw County in May of this year.

They also scored first in narcotics detection and second in a team competition (for narcotics detection)  with a Kalamazoo team.

The mission of the Livonia Police Department is to be responsive to the needs of all persons within the City by providing excellence in police service.  In partnership with the community, we commit to the highest standard of professionalism, integrity and accountability.
