| CITY CAMPUS ROADS, LIBRARY PARKING LOT UNDER CONSTRUCTION Effective Saturday, August 14th, Civic Center Drive from Shadyside Street (south and east of City Hall) will be closed as part of the road and parking lot project on the City's Civic Center campus. The closure will allow for additional earthwork, the placement of stone and construction of new concrete curb and gutter for the new "ring road" that will connect Library Drive to Civic Center Drive. Civic Center Drive, east of Shadyside Street, will be closed at least 2 to 3 weeks. The weather (i.e. rain days) during construction may extend the closure.
The attached map shows the recommended access roads to City Hall, Civic Center Library and James R. McCann Hall of Justice (16th District Court) from Five Mile Road.
Library resumes normal access to main south entrance and drop-off box. Pedestrians will be allowed access again on Monday, August 16th, to the main south entrance of the Library with a new sidewalk to use. They can resume parking in the lot, east of City Hall.
NOTE: To obtain access to the Livonia Police Station, drivers must use northbound Farmington Road and turn onto eastbound Civic Center Drive.
Please be aware that the contractor changed the traffic control barricades on Friday, August 13th for northbound Farmington Road, closing the right lane, just north of Lyndon. The pavement at the intersection of Farmington Road/Civic Center Drive is scheduled to be removed soon. Northbound drivers on Farmington will be able to turn right and head east onto Civic Center Drive. However, with the westbound lanes of Civic Center Drive closed before Farmington Road, drivers must use Shadyside to head north and exit onto Five Mile Road. |
